This lecture series introduces animal biodiversity, body plans, phylogeny, and the taxonomic system. By comparing the morphology, physiology, genetics, and ecology of selected taxa, students will learn how evolutionary changes and conserved structures help reveal phylogenetic relationships and major transitions in the animal kingdom.
